Heater Box

BuildI got the heater box installed today.

The heater box is from Southern Rods. It was the best one I could find that had the hoses in the right orientations. It seems a little small to do the job, but hopefully I am wrong.

I had to crack it open to drill some holes in the case in order to have some way of mounting it. As you can see, it's a pretty small core with a two speed blower attached. The rubber adapter and white pvc bits are OSH plumbing pieces to adapt up to 2" (which will later go to 2.5").

Among other things, I also got a heater hose bulkhead kit and servo controlled heater control valve from Vintage Air.

To install the bulkhead fitting I got a slick little step drill. I was amazed how well/quickly it worked on the sheet metal.

Then I put a little paint on the hole to keep it from rusting.

Next, I installed the bulkhead fittings, the heater box, heater control valve, and ran the lines between them.

Here it is all together. You can see the servo heater control valve off to the left, and the ducting will come off the white fittings on the right.
